I’m Nicole! A solo Esthetician from Brooklyn, NY. I dove into the skincare industry when I felt like I was the only person I could rely on when it came to understanding my skin. I’ve always struggled with cystic acne, hormonal imbalances, and skin sensitivity ever since I hit puberty at a very young age. I fluctuated between medications for my acne and my hormones. My skin was left more sensitive and irritated after the medications.
I got my diploma in organic skin care formulation and started my brand, Skin and Soul, to cater to those struggling with skin sensitivity. I realized my knowledge was only taking me so far and eventually got my honors diploma in Aesthetics, as well as became a Nutrition Certified Esthetician. Embracing every opportunity for continued education.
My experience with my skin is, unfortunately, not a special case. In the United States, an estimated 5 to 6 million women have PCOS. In addition, ~60–70% of women and 50–60% of men report having some degree of skin sensitivity. I felt singled out, but I was part of the millions that had to live every day with their skin being the focal point of their well-being, which creates an obstacle in feeling confident. I’m grateful my experiences can translate into helping others.
Skin Script was the first brand I was interested in outside of school and still use it to this day. I knew I had a big interest in enzymes and was able to play around with other activities without being too aggressive. My favorite enzyme to start my clients off is the Coconut Enzyme! It slightly tingles but leaves you with a great glow. The flexibility in products allows my clients to feel comfortable, while repairing their skin barrier and gives me peace of mind knowing I’m using gentle yet effective products. Slowly, I transitioned my retail shelf to carrying Skin Script products for my clients. A BIG seller in my treatment room is the Glycolic & Retinol Pads. People are always coming back for more and love how easily they can incorporate them into their routines.
