Michael Shuey is a celebrated Clinical Hypnotherapist, Arizona Board Certified Licensed Massage Therapist and Arizona Board Licensed Aesthetician & Instructor.
After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Learning and Pedagogy from Northern Arizona University, Michael’s aspiration to make a difference, deepened.
His commitment to individuals’ health, growth and well-being inspired enrollment at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts in Tempe, Arizona. There, Michael graduated with specialization in massage, skin care, hypnotherapy, reiki, and craniosacral therapy. His hands and heart unified.
“I have always had desire to discover the healing arts and continually thought about going to massage school. After years of telling myself that I could not do it, one day I woke up and it was time to make my dream a reality. The moment my first class started I knew that this was going to change my life forever. I love going to work every day knowing I've helped someone relax, heal and rejuvenate themselves.”
After several years in the corporate world, Michael fulfilled his dream by opening his own holistic practice in 2003. In 2012, he become the Director of Education for the Southwest Institute of Natural Aesthetics and in 2022 he joined Skin Script as the Director of Education as well as opened his own center, Unravel Education & Wellness Center.

Julie Patterson, Education Department Manager for Skin Script Skin Care, has been a licensed aesthetician for 10 years.
After being diagnosed with melanoma in 2011, Julie sought to learn all about skin and skin cancer. Her research turned into a love for skin as well as continuing education. Julie attended an aesthetic school devoted to a holistic approach and immersed herself in several modalities. She joined the Skin Script team in 2012 and helped develop the Education Team to foster the company mission of quality education.
In her free time Julie escapes to Disneyland, enjoys 90’s R&B and being a mother to 3 fantastic children.

Stacy Best-Nervis is a licensed esthetician and owner of Brownstone Spa in Phoenix, Arizona. Stacy’s career spans beyond skincare. She holds a Business degree in Human Resource Management from New Mexico State University and an MBA in Finance from Grand Canyon University. Her corporate background, including leadership roles in a leading investment company, enriched her with skills in project management, customer service, and policy oversight.
As one of only a handful of students of color in her program, she experienced first-hand the lack of knowledge new estheticians received regarding melanin-rich skin tones. Stacy created Brownstone Spa to be a place where people with skin of color could feel comfortable in getting a skin or spa treatment in which the esthetician was knowledgeable.
“Joining Skin Script as an educator feels like coming full circle. I still remember writing down my plan to carry this brand as a student. It’s an honor to now educate others about a line I’ve trusted to transform my clients' skin.”
Stacy also served as an Education Ambassador for Skin Script Skincare, teaching ingredient focused education for student estheticians. She also is a co-founder for ACRES a 501c(3) whose mission is to elevate historically underserved communities by empowering community-minded entrepreneurs with the tools, resources, and support they need to achieve ownership and long-term stability.

As the Education Assistant, she plays a vital role in supporting the company’s education initiatives—coordinating class preparations, managing school accounts, and assisting with the Education Ambassador Program.
Abigail’s journey into aesthetics began with her very first facial, sparking a deep interest in skincare that soon evolved into a fulfilling career. Passionate about helping others feel their best, she strives to create a relaxing, rejuvenating experience for every client.
When she’s not in the treatment room or behind the scenes in education, Abigail enjoys baking sweet treats, spending quality time with her dogs, and cheering on her favorite hockey team.

I’m actually about to go to the Bahamas for my 25th birthday in a week! So that’s currently my #1. But anywhere super romanticized like Italy or Greece would be amazing to just walk around and eat good food.
The most embarrassing thing that has happened in the treatment room?
I totally forgot this happened until I read this question! I was cooling off a hot towel, about to drape it over a client, and I accidentally let go of one end and it smacked them in the face! We laughed it off but I remember being so mortified.

I absolutely have to listen to full albums in order, so I’m cheating with this one to shout out my current obsession “The Kids Table” by Avery Lynch. I love any music that captures a feeling perfectly.
Your guilty pleasure TV show?
I’m sure everyone says this but reality TV is so fascinating to watch, mostly because it takes a very specific personality to want to be perceived by millions who then can give their opinions about you online. It’s my absolute nightmare but so fun to watch. Also, Girl Meets World is a comfort show of mine!
A strange talent that you have?
Not sure how strange, but I got really into making beaded jewelry not too long ago! I taught myself how to make little flowers and intricate patterns and it’s now such a fun hobby for me. Definitely reminds me of craft time as a kid!

Suddenly I’ve forgotten everywhere I’ve ever been? (Incoming sappy answer) The best place I’ve ever been is my home! It’s most important to me to have a sanctuary and somewhere I feel safe and comfortable. My current home has my dog, my family, and all of my favorite things!

The most embarrassing thing that has happened when I first opened my studio, I was already nervous and this was a new client. I was filling up my steamer and talking to my client. So I wasn’t paying too close attention to it and as I was setting up my products for my client. The steamer started spitting water all over the floor, my client goes “I think your steamer is screaming at you.” Now I’m on my hands and knees cleaning all of the hot water off the floor.

Ha! My facial table of 5 years broke immediately when my client laid down on it for her facial. I heard a loud crash so I quickly came back in the room and all I saw was legs up in the air and my table on the ground sideways! She was laughing and thankfully she was not hurt but I felt my cheeks get hot from such an embarrassment because she was also stuck between the bed and my trolley! I had to help her up from off the ground. Ugh (face palm)!

The most embarrassing and I would also say scariest thing that happened to me in the treatment room was when my steamer broke and ended up shooting out the hot water onto my client like if it was a water house. Now I always turn the steam on before my client even lays down.

The last song I played on Spotify is Scars in Heaven. After loosing my grandmother a few days ago on my birthday 02-12-23, and going onto a year of loosing my dog, this song reminds me that they are in a better place without pain.

My guilty pleasure TV show would be Gilmore Girls. I’ve watched it so many times but every time I watch it it just makes me so happy. I would for sure call it my comfort series.

A strange talent that I have would be that I’m very good at braiding any type of braid. Ever since I was younger all I had to do was just see a picture of a braid and I would learn how to do it right away. In high school I used to have so many people ask me to braid their hair during school hours.

The best place I’ve ever been to is Puerto Rico because it’s home. As someone who was never born there but has a father who is Puertorican and a mother who is Dominican, the feeling I feel when I’m there is indescribable. I’ve been to many places that are stunning but Puerto Rico is that one place that I don’t need to visit beautiful views, I just have to step foot on the island and I automatically have peace and feel so loved. I would call it my safe haven. I think that’s why it’s the best place I’ve ever been to.

If I could have the pleasure to travel anywhere today, I would go to Portugal. Portugal has a very special place in my heart, the country itself is very charming, the food is amazing, people are super welcoming and friendly and it's also a very safe place to travel.
The most embarrassing thing that has happened in the treatment room?
That was when I was working at a spa-resort. I will never forget that day! I fell asleep in the treatment room while my client had her eyes covered and the facial mask on her face. I was so tired after having 4-5 facials back to back with no breaks. I sat on the floor of the treatment room for literally 3 minutes and woke up with my loud snoring! Luckily it was fast and I don't think the client noticed,as she was very relaxed on her bed. But I was so scared and embarrassed!!!!
Your go-to cocktail order?
I love a good caipirinha, A Brazilian drink made out of vodka, lemon juice and sugar. I normally use splenda instead of sugar. It tastes just as good and is much less caloric.

I am not sure of the exact music but definitely Spa music! That's what I play at work on a regular basis and lately I started to play it at home in the morning as I prepare myself to work. I light a candle in my room and play some sort of relaxing music. It gets me ready for the day.

To be honest I love Brazilian Soap Operas!!! It brings me back to my roots, makes me laugh, cry... and uses my imagination. I look forward to watching it every night.

Not exactly a talent but definitely strange! - I can twist my tongue and make some crazy moves with it! People say that it is related to genetics, I am not sure about that but it's definitely weird!

More than the place itself - But the people that I was with. I went on a cruise to Europe and the Middle East with my father, my two daughters and my husband. We visited Italy, Greece and Turkey.It was the last trip I did with my father, it was unforgettable!

One of the most embarrassing moments for me was when I was a new esthetician I let my cousin tell me what type of enzyme she wanted on her skin and I end up using pumpkin orange for the very first time and she got some pretty gnarly burns on her cheeks they cleared up in about 7 days and her skin was beautiful but it was definitely a lesson learned to go back and educate myself.

The most embarrassing thing that happened was when I first started as an esthetician. I was working in a salon and was doing a brow wax, that went wrong quick! I had waxed too much hair off. OMG! To disguise the mistake I offered a complimentary brow wax to make the brow look better. It was too late. Before giving my client the mirror I told her I had waxed off too much hair. She wasn't happy but thanked me for being honest and letting her know.

I must choose my two favorite actors, Denzel Washington and Samuel L. Jackson simply because of their wisdom and talent. I was very gassy throughout my second pregnancy. That's all I'm going to say. Lucky for me, she was one of my longtime VIP clients. We still laugh about it til today.

When I was in Esty school, we were taught to release steam from our barber towels by waving them over the top of our clients. Well, my hand slipped 🫣😓 and the towel SMACKED my client in the face. BAM 💥😭😭😭 I apologized a million times but somehow that made her like me and she was the first client to follow me when I started my practice! 🥰

The most embarrassing thing that has happened in the treatment room?
I once had a steamer connected with a magnifying light. When performing extractions, the magnifying light somehow broke and fell on the client’s face. I stopped treatment immediately and apologized profusely. The client was very kind and not upset; just startled. I felt awful and made sure she didn’t pay for her treatment along with giving her free product. She has still been a faithful client to this day!
